Alongside my independent studio practice, I regularly create commissioned paintings, carefully tailoring colour, atmosphere, and scale to both the client's vision and the environment in which the work will be displayed. The result is a unique artwork that carries both aesthetic impact and personal significance.
My work is not concerned with literal representation, but with revealing what lies beneath the surface. Whether working figuratively or abstractly, I seek to capture tension, emotion, and a sense of human presence. Colour plays a central role in this process. The interaction between warm and cool tones creates contrast, depth, and movement, while layers and texture give the work a strong physical presence.
My paintings exist in the space between control and spontaneity. Through expressive brushwork, unexpected colour relationships, and abstract interventions, I create room for interpretation and discovery. It is within this tension—between harmony and disruption, structure and freedom—that my work finds its distinctive character and strength.
Naast mijn vrije werk realiseer ik regelmatig schilderijen in opdracht, waarbij kleur, sfeer en formaat zorgvuldig worden afgestemd op de ruimte en de wensen van de opdrachtgever. Zo ontstaat een uniek kunstwerk dat zowel esthetisch als persoonlijk betekenisvol is.
In mijn werk staat niet de letterlijke weergave centraal, maar het zichtbaar maken van wat zich onder de oppervlakte bevindt. Of ik nu figuratief of abstract werk, ik zoek naar spanning, emotie en menselijke aanwezigheid. Kleur speelt daarbij een essentiële rol. De wisselwerking tussen warme en koele tinten creëert contrast, diepte en dynamiek, terwijl gelaagdheid en textuur zorgen voor een sterke fysieke aanwezigheid.
Mijn schilderijen bewegen zich tussen controle en spontaniteit. Door zichtbare penseelstreken, onverwachte kleuraccenten en abstracte elementen ontstaat ruimte voor interpretatie. Juist in het spanningsveld tussen harmonie en verstoring, tussen structuur en vrijheid, vindt mijn werk zijn kracht en eigen signatuur.
